FEATURE DOCUMENTARY SKY JUMPERS TO AIR ON HISTORY
MONDAY, JULY 21 AT 9PM ET/PT.
An extraordinary story of life, death and renewal in the perilous world of top-tier competitive skydiving
TORONTO, June 17 , 2014 – Muse Entertainment’s documentary Sky Jumpers follows the world-renowned athletes of the PD Factory Team as they pursue one of the most dangerous sports in the world: skydiving. The 1×90 special will be broadcast Monday July 21, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on HISTORY.
Jumping from 4000 metres above the earth, distance-flying the gorges of the Grand Canyon, the fiords of Norway and the peaks of the Swiss Alps at speeds of 80kmph, the PD Factory’s Team’s mastery in the air is unparalleled. World champions and multiple record-holders, they push the boundaries of human flight where split second decisions make the difference between life and death. When the team is hit by a series of accidents and then a tragic loss, the pros are shaken to their core and must re-examine their choices. With spectacular photography and heart-stopping moments, Sky Jumpers is immersive, real time story-telling.
Co-Director and Writer of Sky Jumpers Hedy Korbee originally met Jay Moledzki, a four-time Canadian champion with seven world titles, in 2009 while he was on his own at the Canadian Skydiving Nationals near Welland, ON. He introduced her to his all-star team of canopy pilots based in Florida.
“We followed the team to the Swiss Alps, to Norway and other destinations where the team competed in speed flying, BASE jumping and team mountain flying. We knew we had an incredible, real-time story when the cameras captured unexpected dramatic events, which sadly included a terrible accident and a tragic death,” said Hedy Korbee, Co-Director and Writer, Sky Jumpers.
Sky Jumpers was shot over six years on 20 HD GoPros and Sony cameras worn by the skydivers on helmets, abdomens, hands and feet, with additional shooting by a professional documentary team. Sky Jumpers is a rare, full access experience that chronicles the PD Factory Team’s remarkable journey to hell and back again.
Sky Jumpers is executive produced by Ann Harbron and Michael Prupas of Muse Entertainment for Shaw Media and is being sold around the world by Muse Distribution International.
