Performing a selection of the band’s hits as well as new tracks, the set includes “Short Skirt Long Jacket“, “Love You Madly“, “Long Time” and “Sick Of You”. CAKE front-man John McCrea and trumpet-player Vince DiFiore offer their perspective on music, touring and the state of the music industry, past and future, as well as a live performance and interview with host Nic Harcourt in front of a studio audience.

Known for its exclusive performances and in-depth conversations with revered musicians, Guitar Center Sessions was the recipient of the International 3D Society’s award for Best Music Television Series in 2010. The series most recently presented Weezer, Jane’s Addiction, Buddy Guy, The Cult and Joe Bonamassa. Hosted by renowned music tastemaker Nic Harcourt, the episode featuring CAKE premieres Saturday, February 26th at 9PM ET/PT in 3D on DIRECTV’s n3D(TM) powered by Panasonic. CAKE lead singer McCrea sums up the band’s philosophy saying, “The only way to be subversive in America is to turn the music down.” Having made headlines with its most recent self-released studio album, Showroom of Compassion, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts the week of its release, CAKE makes music that expresses the frustration of a generation defined by music that was “too loud.”

As a group of young musicians based out of Sacramento in the early 90s, CAKE opposed what they saw as the worst in American rock with each song they wrote. In Guitar Center Sessions’ in-depth interview, McCrea describes a band formed out of a unique identity, largely unaffected by pressure from record labels and motivated to engage their audience by producing something different.

McCrea and DiFiore go on to describe the band’s early days on the road, touring for months at a time in a van that used to catch on fire. From their self-released debut album, Motorcade of Generosity, to working with major labels, John and Vince provide viewers with an unfiltered look at what it takes to achieve success in the music business, and where they see the industry going.
