HALLMARK CHANNEL CLOSES OUT NOVEMBER ON TOP
CONTINUING TO DELIVER THE #1 AND #2 MOVIES OF THE WEEK
“Holiday Engagement” Scores a 3.0 HH Rtg While “Trading Christmas” Delivers 2.9 HH Rtg
Highest Rated Weekend-To-Date and Highest Rated Sunday of Network History
Cementing the ratings success from the past three weeks, Hallmark Channel concludes November with two more top-rated original movies: “Debbie Macomber’s Trading Christmas” and “Holiday Engagement”. Part of the channel’s annual Countdown to Christmas campaign, the world premiere of “Trading Christmas” scored a 2.9 HH rating while “Holiday Engagement” delivered a 3.0 HH rating, drawing a combined audience of nearly 8.4 million unduplicated viewers. The network lays claim to the #1 movie of the week for the past three consecutive weeks, delivering 9 of the top 10 highest-rated ad-supported cable movies of November. Additionally, all Hallmark Channel original holiday movie premieres have ranked among the top 3 ad-supported movies of the week. Building on this success, “Holiday Engagement” and “Trading Christmas” were the #1 and #2 movies of the week, respectively, making this the highest rated weekend-to-date for the network. Hallmark Channel was #1 for weekend prime time in HH delivery (2,150,000) as well as #1 in HH, Total Viewers (P2+), and key demo (W25-54) ratings.
“Trading Christmas” (Sat 8-10p) was the #1 rated movie and #1 program on ad-supported cable for Saturday, and reached more than 4.7 million unduplicated viewers. It also placed as #1 in HH (2,554,000) and P2+ (3,387,000) delivery for the time period as well as #1 in HH rtg and Total Viewers (P2+) rating, lifting the Hallmark Channel to the #1 cable network in prime time for the day among HH (2.5 HH rtg). Hallmark Channel also ranked as the 2nd highest rated cable network in prime time among the W25-54 rating (1.2).
“Holiday Engagement” (Sun 8-10p), the #1 movie of the week among households and the target demo of W25-54, was the #2 program of the day on ad-supported cable – giving Hallmark Channel the highest rated Sunday in network history. The film ranked #1 in HH rating for the time period and #2 for total viewers (P2+) rating. In addition, the film was #2 in delivery among HH’s (2,645,000) and P2+ (3,522,000). Seen by nearly 5.4 million unduplicated viewers, “Holiday Engagement” boosted Hallmark Channel to the #1 rated cable network for the entire day among W25-54 rating and the #2 rated cable network in Prime Time for the day among HH (2.5 HH rtg).
“Debbie Macomber’s Trading Christmas”, the third movie in the Hallmark Channel’s ongoing Debbie Macomber film series, is a holiday tale about twists of fate and how a change of address can lead two people to find love at the most unexpected time. When Emily (Ford) arranges a house-swap for Christmas to surprise her daughter, Heather, the last thing she expected to discover was a love connection. The movie stars Golden Globe nominee Tom Cavanagh (“Ed”) and five-time Emmy® nominee Faith Ford (“Murphy Brown”).
In “Holiday Engagement,” Hillary Burns (Somerville) is always struggling in life and love while constantly feeling the pressure to marry from her demanding mother, Meredith (Long). This holiday season, she thinks she finally has it right but when Hillary’s fiancé suddenly breaks up with her, she scrambles to find a fake fiancé. After posting an ad online, she hires David (Bridges), an out-of-work actor to pose as her fiancé in front of her mom, her dad (McMurray) and her snobbish sister Trish (Duff). Her fake engagement starts to unravel when she realizes she’s in over her head and begins falling for David.
