Impressive Gains for WGN America’s “Salem” Season Two in Live + 3 Viewing

 

Highest Lift Across All New and Returning Premieres on Cable This Season Among Adults 18-49

 

Rises to 1.5 Million Total Viewers on Premiere Night                       

 

Premiere Telecast Nearly Doubles to More Than 1 Million Total Viewers  

 

  • On one of the most competitive nights of television, the second season premiere of WGN America’s supernatural thriller “Salem” expanded its audience for last Sunday’s premiere night, with strong Live + 3 gains climbing to 1.5 million Total Viewers (+65% vs. 897,000) and 796,000 Adults 18-49 (+80% vs. 441,000), during the premiere and three replays on April 5.

 

  • Live + 3 delivery for the “Salem” season two premiere telecast at 10 p.m. ET ranks as this season’s highest lift across all new and returning premieres on cable among Adults 18-49, rising an impressive +112% (602,000 vs. 284,000). 

 

  • Performance of the 10. p.m. telecast nearly doubled its viewership, representing a significant +99% increase over the network’s Total Viewers (1,014,000 vs. 510,000), which ranks as this season’s second highest lift of any new or returning premiere on cable.

 

  • The initial airing outperformed the “Salem” season one finale, lifting +62% among Adults 18-49 (602,000 vs. 372,000) and +45% among Total Viewers (1,014,000 vs. 699,000) in Live + 3 viewing over Live + Same Day.  The telecast also outpaced the “Salem” season one average +31% among Adults 18-49 (602,000 vs. 461,000) and +10% among Total Viewers (1,014,000 vs. 922,000).

 

[if !supportLists]·         [endif]“Salem” delivered a strong +608% increase among Adults 18-49 and +930% increase among Women 18-49 in Live + 3 viewing, over the season-to-date time period average.

 

WGN America covers 62.3% of the U.S. and is available in 73 million homes, and has only a single feed, making for an early West Coast premiere at 7 p.m. PT.

 

From creators and writers Brannon Braga (“Cosmos,” “24”) and Adam Simon (“The Haunting in Connecticut”), WGN America’s “SALEM” is a gripping one-hour supernatural thriller that boldly reimagines the 17th-century witch trials in colonial Massachusetts in a world where witches are real, but they are not who or what they seem.  

 

The series stars Janet Montgomery (“Human Target,” “Made in Jersey”), Shane West (“Nikita,” “ER”), Seth Gabel (“Arrow,” “Fringe”), Ashley Madekwe (“Revenge”), Tamzin Merchant (“Jane Eyre”), Elise Eberle (“The Astronaut Farmer”) and Iddo Goldberg (“Mob City”).  New to the cast of “Salem” for season two are Lucy Lawless (“Xena: Warrior Princess”, “Spartacus”), Stuart Townsend (“Betrayal,” “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”), Joe Doyle (“Raw”) and Oliver Bell (“The Saint”).

 

 

“Salem” is executive produced by Brannon Braga, Adam Simon, Josh Barry, Jeff Kwatinez, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson.  Nick Copus directs and serves as co-executive producer.   Filmed on location in Shreveport, Louisiana, the series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios.
