Grammy Award-Winning Superstar Ne-Yo Performs His Hit Single “One in a Million” and The Fresh Beat Band Anthem “Great Day”

New Season Premieres on Friday, June 24

NEW YORK, May 17, 2011 – Preschoolers favorite foursome meet one of their music idols, Grammy award-winning superstar Ne-Yo, in the new hour-long The Fresh Beat Band special, “Band in a Jam,” premiering Friday, May 27, at 1:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.  Ne-Yo guest stars as himself and performs two songs with the Fresh Beats – Ne-Yo’s hit song, “One in a Million,” and the series’ anthem “Great Day.”

“I had a blast guest-starring on The Fresh Beat Band,” said Ne-Yo. “Since I was a kid, music has been an important part of my life, and I think it’s great that The Fresh Beat Band teaches preschoolers music appreciation and gets them singing and dancing.”

In “Band in a Jam,” The Fresh Beat Band is excited to see their favorite musician Ne-Yo perform in concert.  En route to the show, the band gets stuck in a storage room at the venue.  They try using various props from the room to open the door, but nothing seems to work.  After reminiscing about when they first met and performed in their first concert, the band finds a way out just in time to hit the stage to perform a rockin’ rendition of “Great Day” with NeYo.

The third season (20 new half-hours) of The Fresh Beat Band kicks off Friday, June 24, at 10:00 a.m. (ET/PT) with two back-to-back episodes.  The new season features Tara Perry as Marina and takes preschoolers on adventures with the Fresh Beats as they perform new pop songs, graduate from music school, babysit chimpanzees and throw a pool party.  Two new singles from The Fresh Beat Band, “Here We Go” written/produced by Matthew Gerrard (Kelly Clarkson, Plain White T’s) and “A Friend Like You” written/produced by Peter Zizzo (Jennifer Lopez, Jason Mraz), will be available on iTunes this summer.

About The Fresh Beat Band

The Fresh Beat Band centers on four best friends – Kiki, Marina, Twist and Shout – in a band who love to sing and dance.  Set to original pop songs, the half-hour series teaches preschoolers about music appreciation and how to express their feelings through movement, song and instrumental music.  In each episode, preschoolers sing and dance along as they help The Fresh Beat Band solve everyday challenges.
