ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. – July 15, 2015— Today, CNBC revealed the 16 entrepreneurs appearing on the new series, “West Texas Investors Club,” premiering Tuesday, August 4th at 10pm ET/PT.  Set deep in the heart of Texas, the eight-episode series features self-made multimillionaires Rooster McConaughey and Butch Gilliam who have chosen to pass on their success by investing in promising entrepreneurs – but only on their turf and their terms.

Along with their close friend and confidante Gil Prather, Rooster and Butch invite ambitious entrepreneurs from across the country to come down to Midland, Texas and make their case.  These folks know that they’re getting a once-in-a-lifetime chance to secure funding…but what they don’t know is that clever products and beautiful balance sheets will only get you so far with these investors. Rooster and Butch won’t make a deal until they’ve peered into your heart and soul – and taken the true measure of your character.

On the series premiere, a young entrepreneur pitches Rooster and Butch on an app that could revolutionize the bar scene. The investors are intrigued by the financial potential… and the prospect of getting their drinks faster. Later, two best friends present a device that promises to reduce contact with germs.

Mike “Rooster” McConaughey started working with his father at age 12 in the oil fields of Texas. An honest, self-made man who lives the saying, “high risk means high reward,” McConaughey never finished college, but made his first million at age 30 working in the oil pipe business.

One year later, he lost it all, but this taught him everything he needed to know to become the multi-millionaire he is today.

Armed with a larger-than-life personality and a trusted reputation, this wheeler-dealer built a business empire worth millions out of a field of rusted pipe. He takes calculated risks (and sometimes not so calculated), relying on his experience and good old fashioned gut-instincts when analyzing a potential investment.

Now, McConaughey is the sole owner of DGM Supply, an oil pipe machine shop that specializes in buying and selling used pipe. He averages two to one profit on his pipe deals and his most recent multi-million dollar oil deal profited five to one in only two years.

In addition to being an active investor in the entertainment industry, Rooster also has a successful hand in many other business ventures such as technology, consumer products, ranching, real estate, water, corn, and oil.

Having been the beneficiary of other people believing and investing in him, Rooster has chosen to pass along his own success by investing in others through West Texas Ltd., an investment group he started with his friend and business partner Butch Gilliam.

Wayne “Butch” Gilliam is widely known as one of the most reputable pipe salesmen in the Permian Basin. He is currently co-owner of Patriot Premium Threading Services.

Gilliam dropped out of high school at 15 years old to work at Curley’s, his father’s machine shop. He started at the ground floor as a “shop-sweep,” where he kept the shop clean by sweeping and shoveling up metal shavings. Gilliam worked day and night during the oil boom of the 1980s, and was quickly promoted to machinist and later, became president of the company. Gilliam used the knowledge gleaned from his years spent at every level of the business to grow the company from a relatively modest fishing tool manufacturing and repair machine shop to an expansive pipe yard. He later sold Curley’s for a significant profit.

Butch continues to build, invest in and operate companies across many industries, including mining, technology, consumer products and real estate. He holds a board position on West Texas Ltd., the investment group he started with his friend and business partner Rooster McConaughey.

His biggest deal ever came in 2004, where he purchased the patent on a relatively obscure flush-joint connection for $200,000 – and then sold it for $100,000,000 in 2006.

Known by his musician peers as “The Man from the Rio Grande,” Prather is an American hall of fame singer/songwriter. Early in his career, Gil’s talent and versatility were recognized by major producers in both the music and entertainment industries.

He has written and produced several award-winning radio and TV commercials, and in 1996 he wrote the decorated song “I’ll Be Back in Texas by the Fall,” which was voted Song of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists. Gil offers a unique style of self-penned Americana music with a Tex-Mex border flavor.

From 1990 -1997, Gil was ‘the other brother’ in the ‘Jose Brothers’ comedy act, which toured the southern United States. In the mid-1990’s, he teamed with Robert James Waller (“The Bridges of Madison County”) to co-write several selections from Waller’s Border Music album. Gil has been a cowboy since birth and spent time in the cattle and ranching business, as well as the construction industry.
