TNT’s coverage of the NBA Playoffs led the network to the top of the charts as basic cable’s #1 network in primetime among viewers, households and key adult demos. TNT was also #1 for the week in total day among adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

TNT’s coverage of the first two Mavericks/Lakers match-ups ranked as the top programs for the week among adults 18-34. Wednesday’s second game between the two teams was also the #1 program on television for that entire day among adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 18-49, beating out shows like American IdolModern Family and Law & Order: SVU.

Overall, TNT’s NBA Playoff coverage accounted for six of basic cable’s Top 10 programs for the week among viewers and seven of the Top 10 among households and key adult demos.

Through 30 games, the NBA Playoffs on TNT are averaging a 2.9 U.S. household rating (+26% vs. 2.3 for last year’s corresponding coverage), with 4,583,000 total viewers (+31% vs. 3,489,000) and 3,369,000 households (+28% vs. 2,632,000). Through seven games of Round 2, the NBA Playoffs on TNT are averaging a 3.7 U.S. household rating (+28% vs. 2.9 for last year’s corresponding coverage), with 5,889,000 total viewers (+31% vs. 4,506,000) and 4,269,000 households (+30% vs. 3,284,000).

Wednesday night’s coverage will mark the 1000th NBA Playoff game since Turner Sports began covering the NBA 27 years ago.

Adult Swim
Adult Swim once again swept all young adult and young male demos for the second week of May, ranking #1 on basic cable for Total Day Delivery of adults 18-34 and men 18-34 with double-digit growth.  Compared to the same week the previous year, adults 18-34 delivery (552,000) grew by 11%, men 18-34 delivery (341,000) grew by 20%, adults 18-49 delivery (776,000) grew by 17% and men 18-49 delivery (478,000) grew by 23%.

The season premiere of Aqua Unit Patrol Squad (Sunday, 11:45 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period on basic cable with all key adult demos and men 18-34, 18-24.  Similarly, a new episode of Superjail (Sunday, 12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-34, 18-24 and men 18-24, earning mostly double-digit growth among all key demos.

Adult Swim telecasts accounted for 19 of the top 50 telecasts of the week on basic cable among adults 18-34, and 21 of the top 50 among men 18-34, both more than any other network.

Cartoon Network

Buoyed by the Tuesday night premiere of The Looney Tunes Show, Cartoon Network’s weekly early evening (7-9 p.m.) delivery and ratings grew across all kids demos vs. the same time period last year: kids 6-11 delivery (559,000) increased by 8% and ratings (2.3) by 10%, kids 2-11 delivery (849,000) increased by 9% and ratings (2.0) by 5%, and kids 9-14 delivery (382,000) increased by 11% and ratings (1.6) by 14%.

Cartoon Network’s newest animated series The Looney Tunes Show (8 p.m.) premiered Tuesday night as the #1 show in its time period for all boy demos, posting double and triple-digit growth across the board compared to the 2010 time period. The performance propelled Cartoon Network’s entire Tuesday night (7-9 p.m.) to rank #1 on all television among all boys demos, earning double-digit gains among all kids demos as well.

Cartoon Network’s Monday night line-up (7-9 p.m.) of original animated comedies was the #1 TV destination for boys 6-11 and 9-14, and earned double-digit delivery gains across all kids and boys demos vs. the prior year.  Anchor series Adventure Time (8 p.m.) and Regular Show (8:30 p.m.) both ranked #1 in their timeslots on all television among all boys—2-11, 6-11 and 9-14—while earning solid gains among key kids and boys demos.

Last week, 1.6 million viewers tuned in to watch Will Farrell shave Conan O’Brien’s beard on CONAN. Monday’s Beardpocalypse episode also scored 846,000 adults 18-34 and more than 1.1 million adults 18-49. For the week, CONAN averaged more than a million viewers, with more than half a million adults 18-34 and 731,000 adults 18-49. CONAN was up 10% among adults 18-34 compared to the most recent week of premieres (April 18-21), with a median age of only 31.

When it comes to time-shifted viewing, CONAN continues to score excellent audience growth. According to the most recent Live + 7 data, CONAN grew its April 18-21 delivery 16% over Live + Same Day for a total of 1.3 million viewers. The show also grew its adults 18-34 delivery by 23% over Live + Same Day to 568,000 and its adults 18-49 delivery by 19% to 883,000.

New episodes of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne last week put TBS on top of the sitcom rankings once again. With 1.9 million viewers tuning in, the Wednesday 10:30 p.m. episode was basic cable’s #1 sitcom telecast for the week.

truTV’s lineup of original series continued to score big growth among key demos, leading the network to overall primetime growth of 21% among adults 18-34 and 15% among men 18-34 compared to the same week last year.

All Worked Up (Monday 9 p.m.), Hardcore Pawn (Tuesday 9:30 p.m.), Operation Repo (Wednesday 9:30 p.m.), truTV Presents: World’s Dumbest… (Thursday 9 p.m.), It Only Hurts When I Laugh (Thursday 10 p.m.) and Top 20 Most Shocking (Friday 8 p.m.) all delivered double-digit growth for their respective timeslots among adults 18-34 and men 18-34. A special Friday 10:30 p.m. episode of All Worked Up grew its timeslot by triple-digit percentages among those demos.
