Toys rule the fantasy hair designs in the Glam Slam

New York, NY – August 19, 2010 – Fantasy hairstylists relive the merriment of childhood and create playful, colorful designs in an all-new episode of “Hair Battle Spectacular” on Tuesday, August 24 at 10pm ET/PT.   “Bad Girls Club” alum Natalie Nunn brings her hard-hitting attitude to the competition as this week’s guest judge.  Also on Tuesday, August 24 at 9:30pm ET/PT, Valley Girl and guest judge Natalie Nunn (“Bad Girls Club”) will dish on behind-the-scenes drama and host a live chat for fans on, with Natalie Nunn hosting on the East Coast and Valley Girl hosting on the West Coast.  They will give viewers the inside scoop on the battles as the episode airs live on both coasts.

This week, the salon is transformed into a candy land for the “Check Up from the Neck Up” challenge.  The designers are tasked with creating sugary sweet hairdos inspired by colorful candy and the gaiety and innocence of their child models.  From gumballs to candy rings, the designers create fantasy hair good enough to eat.  Most of the models are pleased as punch with the sweet treats atop their heads but one girl’s expression tells a different story.  Will the judges agree with her discontent?

The youthful thread continues into the “Glam Slam” challenge. This time toys rule the fantasy designs and the contestants take on the job like Santa’s elves.  The challenge becomes tricky when they find out that their designs must have a moveable piece, allowing the contestants to let their imaginations run wild.  Fingaz is certain that her bionic design will easily defeat Sexi Lexi’s design.  Will Fingaz’s hubris hurt her or will Sexi Lexi’s hair design be a “hair don’t” for the third week in a row?

Oxygen continues with its groundbreaking real time destination,, as a companion to every one of its original series. Hosted by actress Brooke Burns, “Hair Battle Spectacular” pits 10 of America’s hottest stylists against each other to see who can deliver the biggest and best in fantasy hair design. Part sculpture and part pop art, each challenge requires contestants to create outrageous coifs that resemble everything from multi-layer wedding cakes to toys with moveable pieces. The stylists then enter the ring to present their hair creations in a fully produced, dramatic and stylized performance. After each challenge, the judges — award-winning fantasy hair designer Derek J, celebrity stylist Lindsay Albanese and a rotating guest judge — critique the designers on creativity, execution and overall presentation. In addition to blow-by-blow drama in the arena, there is also the day-to-day drama between the cohabitating stylists who fight each week to stay in the game and win the ultimate prize of $100,000.
