NEW YORK – April 26, 2010 – Syfy is ordering up additional episodes of its hit original reality series Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files.  Production will commence on twelve new one-hour episodes, which will be added to the current second season.  The popular investigative series is scheduled to return in October 2011.

Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files has delivered series highs in total viewers for five consecutive weeks since returning for its second season on March 23, 2011.

In its second season to-date, Fact or Faked is averaging 1.455 million total viewers per week (+52% vs. season 1), 859,000 Adults 25-54 (+58%) and 808,000 Adults 18-49 (+53%).

The upcoming mid-season finale episode “Whaley Ghost House/Muck Monster” will air this Wednesday, April 27th at 10 PM ET/PT on Syfy.

On this episode of Fact or Faked, Austin, Bill and Chi-Lan examine a series of mysterious photographs capturing ghostly images in one of the most haunted houses in America – the historic Whaley House of San Diego, California. The investigation yields an eerie recording of electronic voice phenomena and some unexplainable bumps in the night! Meanwhile, Ben, Devin and Jael dive into a case that has baffled locals along the inter-coastal waterways of South Florida. An unidentified maritime cryptid is rumored to patrol the Loxahatchee River with such frequency that it’s been dubbed the Muck Monster. The team meets up with a family who has captured the creature on film, and sets out to discover the truth behind the myth.

The Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files team includes former FBI Special Agent Ben Hansen, lead scientist Bill Murphy, journalist Jael de Pardo, photographer Chi-Lan Lieu, stunt expert Austin Porter and tech specialist Devin Marble. Together, they review web video claiming to depict paranormal and unexplainable phenomena including ghosts, poltergeist activity, UFOs, strange creature sightings, and unknown energy anomalies. After agreeing on which cases warrant further exploration, they take to the field, employing their expertise in full investigations, experiments and recreations to dispel the hoaxes from the real and possibly paranormal.

Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files airs Wednesdays at 10:00 PM ET/PT on Syfy.

Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files is executive produced by John Brenkus and Mickey Stern for BASE Productions, and is a co-production with Universal Networks International.
