‘El Senor de los Cielos’ Ranks as #1 Spanish-language Broadcast Program at 10pm Every Night Among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34
MIAMI – May 6, 2015 – According to Nielsen, TELEMUNDO’s Monday-Friday primetime programming delivered the largest increase in viewers in April year-over-year compared to all other Spanish-language broadcast networks, averaging 730,000 adults 18-49 in April, up 150,000 viewers vs. April 2014. The network garnered a 33% share among adults 18-49 during primetime this past month, up 9 points vs. last year, tying with September 2014 as the best monthly performance in network history in terms of share.
Year-to-date, the network is up 20% with adults 18-49 (766,000) versus last year delivering a record 32 share in Monday-Friday prime, up 6 points vs. last year and averaging 1.55 million viewers each week night vs. 1.37 million, up 13% vs. last year among total viewers. TELEMUNDO is the fastest growing Spanish-language broadcast network in the Monday-Friday 10-11pm hour delivering 1,052,000 adults 18-49, up 66% vs. last year. At 10pm, during the Super Series timeslot, TELEMUNDO is delivering a 41% share year-to-date, up 18 points versus last year.
“Telemundo’s differentiated programming strategy, anchored in the 10pm Super Series is working,” said Luis Silberwasser, President, Telemundo. “We have great momentum and are entering the upfront season with record share, volume and a whole slew of new ideas to keep growing.”
In April, TELEMUNDO ‘s share among adults 18-49 was 41% during the Super Series timeslot Monday through Friday 10-11pm, up 20 points vs last year (21% share) and the network also delivered a 40 share in the 7pm hour, up 4 points vs 2014, among adults 18-49.
TELEMUNDO also gained the most total viewers year-over-year compared to all Spanish-language broadcast networks in April, averaging 1.52 million viewers each week night, up 230,000 viewers, vs. 1.29 million.
Currently, season three of “El Senor de los Cielos” has been the #1 Spanish-language broadcast program at 10pm every night among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34. In addition, the super series has ranked #1 on broadcast television regardless of language at 10pm on two nights among adults 18-49 and six nights among adults 18-34, out of 8 total nights. Premiere-to-date, “El Senor de los Cielos” is earning an average 1.7 million adults 18-49, 851,000 adults 18-34 and 2.6 million P+2, pacing ahead of the first 8 episodes of season two by 23% in adults 18-49 (1.4 million), 26% in adults 18-34 (678,000) and 21% in total viewers+ (2.2 million).
On April 30, the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards delivered its most watched broadcast in history with 1.46 million adults 18-49, propelling TELEMUNDO to rank as the #1 Spanish-language network in primetime and the #3 network regardless of language.
In April 2015, “Un Nuevo Dia”, “Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste”,” Enfoque con José Díaz-Balart” and “Noticiero Telemundo” news properties all delivered double-digit growth among total viewers and adults 18-49 year over year.
