As Reward for Fans Delivering More than 500,000 “Likes” on Facebook
Special Bonus Episode to Premiere Exclusively Online Immediately Following April 27 Spring Finale
The fans of OPERATION REPO have risen to the challenge. More than half a million of them have “Liked” the hit show’s Facebook fan page (http://www.facebook.com/OperationRepo), topping the target set by truTV in January. In return, truTV has created a full-length episode just for the show’s fans. The episode will be available on the OPERATION REPO Facebook fan page immediately following the Season 8 spring finale, which airs Wednesday, April 27, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).
truTV’s OPERATION REPO challenge began in celebration of the hit show’s eighth season, the first half of which ends this Wednesday. Fans had until the end of April to reach half a million “Likes” on the OPERATION REPO Facebook page. They beat that number by a solid margin, with more than 533,000 to date.
“The OPERATION REPO challenge is a perfect example of how truTV is able to activate its very loyal and engaged fan base,” said Mary Corigliano, senior vice president of brand strategy and digital content/multi-platform development for truTV. “We were confident going into this challenge that fans would have no problem reaching the 500,000 mark, but they’ve surprised us with how far they’ve taken it. They really rose to the challenge. The special bonus episode is our way of saying thanks for making OPERATION REPO such a tremendous success.”
OPERATION REPO follows a repossession team that has been together for more than seven years and has repossessed everything from hot rods to hot air balloons. The team consists of Luis Pizarro, the owner; his sister, Sonia Pizarro; her ex-husband, Froy Tercero; Froy’s best friend, Matt Burch; and Luis’ daughter, Lyndah Pizarro. truTV’s OPERATION REPO fan page on Facebook features video clips from the show, behind-the-scenes photos, series updates, exclusive interviews and more.
OPERATION REPO premiered on truTV in April 2008. It has since become one of the network’s biggest hits. For the eighth season, the show has averaged 1.9 million viewers. In Q1 2011, it ranked as basic cable’s #1 Wednesday 9 p.m. program among adults 18-49 and scored a Top 5 time-period ranking .with men 18-49 and total viewers. OPERATION REPO will return with new episodes in June.
