SILVER SPRING, MD – FEBRUARY 12, 2015 – TV One today announced that the network launched Black History Month with a strong slate of successful original programming yielding record-breaking ratings growth by  posting a combined reach of 6.1 Million Total Viewers. The history-making weekend was led by the Friday, February 6th broadcast of the 46th NAACP Image Awards Red Carpet Live Pre-Show and Awards Show, as well as a sneak peek airing of the upcoming original series Born Again Virgin. The Saturday, February 7 premiere of the original film White Water capped off the successful triple-premiere weekend.


Additional ratings and social media highlights include:


  • 46th NAACP Image Awards is the #1 Friday Primetime Telecast in TV One history among Total Households (596K), F25-54 (234K), P18-49 (317K), F18-49 (209K) and Viewers 2+ (790K) 


  • White Water is the Most Watched TV One Original Movie premiere of All Time among Total Viewers 2+ (494K)


  • White Water is also the #2 Most Watched TV One Telecast so far this year among Total Viewers 2+ (494K), only behind #1 NAACP Image Awards


  • Born Again Virgin is the #2 Most Watched TV One Original Series telecast this year among Total Viewers 2+ (419K)


  • The 46th NAACP Image Awards is the #1 most social program on Friday, February 6th


  • The 46th NAACP Image Awards Red Carpet and Image Awards Live broadcast generated over 95K Tweets, an increase of 22% from last year (77.8K)

Additional Black History Month premieres include Unsung Hollywood  and R&B Divas LA which airs Wednesday nights at 8PM/ET and 10PM/ET respectively and the 23rd Annual Trumpet Awards airing Saturday, February 21 at 8PM/ET. This season of Unsung Hollywood provides a behind-the-scenes look at the groundbreaking sitcom A Different World, the storied career of actress Vivica A. Fox, legendary funnyman Redd Foxx, the rise of boundary-breaking comedian Sheryl Underwood, Richard Roundtree’s iconic role as Shaft, and rounds out the season looking back at the cult classic Baby Boy. Each episode of R&B Divas LA will follow the cast of exceptional singers – Chanté Moore, Lil’ Mo, Michel’le, Chrisette Michele and Leela James Christina “Brave” Williams and Stacy Francis – as they balance a series of personal matters while fighting to rise and stay on top of the R&B charts. TV One’s Black History Month’s special programming concludes with the 23rd Annual Trumpet Awards on Saturday, February 21 at 8PM/ET acknowledging  Jamie Foxx, the Isley Brothers, Janelle Monae, Dr. Valarie Montgomery Rice, Lou Brock, Tommy Hilfiger, Guy Vickers, Franklyn R. Wilson, and Arnold Donald for their accomplishments that have significantly contributed to enhancing the quality of life for all.
