Playing all division games yesterday and sequencing the games to maximize suspense contributed to great day of football for NFL fans.


Yesterday’s five NFL TV windows, which featured 10 of 16 games with playoff implications, averaged a 12.9 overnight rating, marking:


  • The highest collective Sunday rating since at least 2006 (when the Sunday primetime package went to NBC).


  • A 25% jump over the first year of the “double doubleheader” in 2006 (10.3 combined overnight)


  • An increase of 5% over ’11 (12.3 combined overnight).


·        An increase of 6% over ’09 (12.2 combined) – the last year PRIOR to all division games being scheduled in Week 17 (6 of 16 games that day were division matchups).
