Graeme Le Saux on football versus soccer terminology: “Coach Lasso has gone a long way in explaining the subtle differences.”

NBC Sports Network Kicks Off Premier League Coverage Saturday, August 17, at 7 AM ET

STAMFORD – August 9, 2013 – Eight days from today – on Saturday, August 17 – NBC Sports Group kicks off the most ambitious, extensive and comprehensive coverage of the Premier League available anywhere in the world. Coverage begins at 7 AM ET on NBC Sports Network with the Liverpool-Stoke City match and continues throughout the season on the networks of NBCUniversal, on the Premier League Extra Time bonus TV package, and streamed on NBC Sports Live Extra.

8 Clubs have never dropped below the second division of English soccer (Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle, Tottenham and West Ham).

NBC Sports Group will make available in the United States all 380 games from the Premier League. That’s more than anywhere else on the globe (including the U.K.).  All games will be preceded and followed by Premier League Live pre- and post-match shows from the NBC Sports Group International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Conn.

Sounding off with NBC Sports Group’s Premier League analyst Graeme Le Saux:

What I am most looking forward to this Premier League season is…

Working with NBC and Arlo White, obviously. Also, the impact of the managerial changes within the top three clubs from last season (Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea), and whether it gives others a chance to break into the top three.

I am preparing for this season of telecasts by…

Writing down and learning the different sayings and words that we use when speaking about football (soccer) to those used in the U.S.! “Top corner” in England is often referred to as “upper ninety” in the United States, for example. Coach Lasso (too close to my name for comfort) has gone a long way in explaining the subtle differences in this area. Before I go on air, I need…

My notepad complete with notes, pen, team sheet and, in the U.K., warm, waterproof clothes (North Face, please take note).

If I’m not watching soccer, I like to…

Spend time with my family: Mariana; Georgina, 14; and Lucas, 11. I play tennis (badly) at Wimbledon and work with the World Wildlife Fund, the English Football Association and the Premier League as well as other things, including gardening.
