ABC’s weekly Live + Same Day Adult 18-49 average is projected to increase 30% to a 1.6 rating in Live + 3 Day and build 38% to a 1.7 rating in Live + 7 Day.

 

Week No. 43 (Live + Same Day)

During the week of July 13, 2015, ABC ranked No. 1 in Adults 18-49 (1.2/4) with its strongest performance in 1 month – since w/o 6/15/15.

·         ABC was up for the 2nd consecutive week in Total Viewers (+10%) and Adults 18-49 (+20%) and also grew by double digits over the same week last year on both counts (+15%/+33%).

 

Summer 2015:  Summer to date (8 complete weeks), ABC ranks No. 1 in Adults 18-49 (1.6/6) with “Celebrity Family Feud” as the highest-rated new TV show.

 

Rankings: ABC delivered 4 of the Top 15 TV shows in Adults 18-49, placing 2 in the Top 5: “ESPY Awards” – No. 4, “Celebrity Family Feud” – No. 5, “The Bachelorette” – No. 8 and “BattleBots” – No. 14. In addition, the Net delivered 3 of the Top 8 most-watched TV shows overall with “Celebrity Family Feud” (No. 3), “ESPY Awards” (No. 5) and “The Bachelorette” (No. 8).  Further, “The Bachelorette” ranked as the No. 1 telecast for the week with key Women (W18-34/W18-49).

 

Monday

For the 3rd time in 4 weeks, ABC ranked as the No. 1 broadcaster on Monday in Total Viewers (5.9 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.6/5-tied).  ABC’s “The Bachelorette” was Monday’s No. 1 TV series in Total Viewers (7.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (4th week in a row – 1.9/7).

 

“The Bachelorette” (8:00-10:01 p.m. – 7.0 million and 1.9/7 in AD18-49):

From 8:00-10:01 p.m., ABC’s “The Bachelorette” outperformed NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” to win its 2-hour slot by 6% in Adults 18-49 (1.9/7 vs. 1.8/6) and led Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” by 90% (1.9/7 vs. 1.0/3). The ABC unscripted series continued to dominate its 2-hour slot in across all key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).

 

·         “The Bachelorette” improved on its performance on the same night last year (6.9 million and 1.7/5 on 7/14/14) in Total Viewers (+1%) and Adults 18-49 (+12%), growing from its year-ago telecast for the 7th straight week in the key adult demo.

 

“The Whispers” (10:01-11:00 p.m. – 3.6 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

During the 10:00 p.m. hour, ABC’s “The Whispers” turned in week to week increases in Total Viewers (+6% – 3.6 million vs. 3.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (+13% – 0.9/3 vs. 0.8/3), posting 3-week highs in both measures – since 6/22/15.   

 

·         On average this summer in the Live + 7 Day data, “The Whispers” spikes 73% over its L+SD Adult 18-49 rating (gaining +0.8 rating point) to a 1.9 L7 rating. The new ABC drama also adds another 2.3 million Total Viewers (+52%) after 7 days of TV playback, drawing an average audience of 6.7 million viewers in L7.

 

Tuesday

“Extreme Weight Loss” (8:00-10:00 p.m. – 2.7 million and 0.8/3 in AD18-49):

Despite airing against Fox’s MLB All-Star Game coverage, ABC’s “Extreme Weight Loss” spiked over the prior week by 29% in Total Viewers (2.7 million vs. 2.1 million) and 33% in Adults 18-49 (0.8/3 vs. 0.6/2) to deliver its best numbers since its season premiere 7 weeks ago – since 5/26/15. “Extreme Weight Loss” shot up from its first hour to its second hour in both Viewers (+30%) and young adults (+29%).

Wednesday

“The 2015 ESPYS” (8:00-11:01 p.m. – 7.8 million and 2.2/8 in AD18-49):

“The 2015 ESPYS” on ABC dominated Wednesday night, ranking as the most-watched program in all 6 half-hours of its 8:00-11:00 p.m. broadcast. In fact, the awards show swept the evening, standing as Wednesday’s No. 1 program in Total Viewers and all key Adult/Women/Men demos (AWM18-34/AWM18-49/AWM25-54). With its broadcast of “The 2015 ESPYS,” ABC beat its closest competition on the night by 50% in Total Viewers (7.8 million vs. 5.2 million – CBS) and by 100% in Adults 18-49 (2.2/8 vs. 1.1/4 – CBS, NBC and Fox tied).

 

·         “The 2015 ESPYS” attracted ABC’s biggest summertime audience on the night since 2005 and the Net’s top young adult number since 2009 – since 7/13/05 and 9/2/09, respectively.

 

·          “The 2015 ESPYS” shot up from its year-ago telecast on ESPN (7/16/14) by 254% in Total Viewers (7.8 million vs. 2.2 million) and by 100% in Adults 18-49 (2.2/8 vs. 1.1/4) to stand as the most-watched and highest-rated “ESPYS” ever.

·         Peaking in the 10 o’clock hour, “The 2015 ESPYS” grew by 1.8 million viewers (6.7 million to 8.5 million) and 53% among young adults (1.7/7 to 2.6/9) from its first hour to its final hour.

 

·         With 1,233,877 tweets, “The 2015 ESPYS” was Wednesday’s most-social broadcast.

 

·         The top 5 highest-rated markets in Households: Kansas City (8.4/15), Atlanta (8.4/14), Philadelphia (8.1/14), Chicago (7.8/14) and Boston (7.6/14).

 

Thursday

“The Astronaut Wives Club” (8:00-9:00 p.m. – 4.4 million and 0.9/4 in AD18-49):

ABC’s “The Astronaut Wives Club” grew for the 2nd week in a row in Total Viewers (+2% – 4.4 million vs. 4.3 million) and Adults 18-49 (+13% – 0.9/4 vs. 0.8/3) to deliver its best young adult number since its season premiere 4 weeks ago since 6/18/15. The new ABC drama ranked a strong 2nd in the 8 o’clock hour among its broadcast rivals in Viewers and Adults 18-49, topping NBC’s “Food Fighters” (3.9 million and 0.9/4) and Fox’s “Boom!” (2.0 million and 0.7/3).

 

·         “The Astronaut Wives Club” was up over “Black Box” on the same night last year (3.7 million and 0.6/3 on 7/17/14) in Total Viewers (+19%) and Adults 18-49 (+50%), improving the 8:00 p.m. hour by double digits for the 5th straight week.

 

·         In the most recent round of Live + 7 Day ratings (w/o 6/22/15), “The Astronaut Wives Club” saw larger TV playback growth in its second week versus its week-ago debut in Adults 18-49, growing +63% over its L+SD rating versus +27% the prior week.

 

“Mistresses” (9:00-10:00 p.m. – 3.3 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

ABC’s “Mistresses” was up week to week among Adults 18-49 (+13% – 0.9/3 vs. 0.8/3) to match a season-best rating.

·         “Mistresses” delivered increasing playback gains in the most recent round of L+7 data, growing to +71% in week 2 among Adults 18-49 compared to +56% for the prior week’s premiere.

 

“Rookie Blue” (10:00-11:00 p.m. – 3.7 million and 0.7/3 in AD18-49):

ABC’s “Rookie Blue” was even with the prior week in Adults 18-49 (0.7/3) to match a season high for the 2nd consecutive week.

·         The most recent L+7 episode of “Rookie Blue” scored the series’ biggest-ever Live + 7 playback increase among Adults 18-49, spiking +83% over its L+SD rating.

 

Sunday

ABC led the major nets on Sunday night in Adults 18-49, beating runner-up CBS by 33% (1.2/5 vs. 0.9/3).

 

·         ABC’s “Celebrity Family Feud” was Sunday’s No. 1 TV show for the 2nd week in a row with Total Viewers (8.8 million), qualifying as the night’s most-watched entertainment telecast so far this summer.

 

“Celebrity Family Feud” (8:00-9:01 p.m. – 8.8 million and 2.0/7 in AD18-49):

In the 8 o’clock hour, ABC’s “Celebrity Family Feud” ran No. 1 over CBS’ “Big Brother 17” by 3.0 million Total Viewers (8.8 million vs. 5.8 million) and by 11% in Adults 18-49 (2.0/7 vs. 1.8/7). 

·         “Celebrity Family Feud” built week to week in Total Viewers (8.8 million vs. 8.7 million), marking the series’ most-watched telecast overall. “Celebrity Family Feud” improved its hour for the 5th week in a row in Total Viewers (+115%) and Adults 18-49 (+82%).

“BattleBots” (9:01-10:01 p.m. – 4.4 million and 1.3/4 in AD18-49):

At 9:00 p.m., ABC’s “BattleBots” led its regular competition in its hour for the 2nd week in a row in Total Viewers (4.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.3/4), ranking as the No. 1 series in the slot for the 5th week running with young adults.

 

·         The new ABC show grew week to week in Total Viewers (+7% – 4.4 million vs. 4.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (+8% – 1.3/4 vs. 1.2/4) to 3 week highs – since 6/28/15. “BattleBots” boosted its hour for ABC from the year-ago night by double digits in Total Viewers (+10%) and Adults 18-49 (+30%).

 

“Save My Life: Boston Trauma” (10:01-11:00 p.m. – 3.4 million and 0.8/3 in AD18-49):

At 10:00 p.m., ABC’s premiere of “Save My Life: Boston Trauma” earned a summertime non-sports high in the time period with Adults 18-49 (0.8/3).  The new show gained 6% in Total Viewers from its first half-hour to its second half-hour (3.3 million to 3.5 million).
