AL JAZEERA AMERICA’S “AMERICA VOTES 2014” DELIVERS IN-DEPTH, ISSUE-ORIENTED ELECTION NIGHT COVERAGE, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4 FROM 7PM-2AM ET

NEW YORK, November 3, 2014 – Al Jazeera America’s “America Votes 2014” continues as the network offers in-depth, un-biased, comprehensive, thoughtful coverage and analysis of the midterm elections and what the outcomes really mean to the way Americans live.  The network will present unique, live election night coverage from 7pm until 2am ET, Tuesday, November 4.

Al Jazeera America once again puts the issues important to Americans ahead of horserace politics.  With four studios in New York and Washington, D.C., and eight reporter teams live across the nation and reporting from eight teams overseas, Al Jazeera America will deliver new voices and interesting new information about the issues.  From wages to immigration to climate change to education to Obamacare— Al Jazeera America looks at how Tuesday night’s political outcomes will affect the next two years and longer.

“America Votes 2014” election night coverage will begin at 7pm with anchor John Seigenthaler.  He will be joined by Tony Harris who will lead a diverse panel of experts who will put results into context for Americans.  In studio also joining Seigenthaler is Ali Velshi who will take a look at the important role that money has played in this election.  Stephanie Sy, David Shuster, Michael Shure and James Bays will also be live from New York.  Live from Washington D.C. will be Joie Chen, Mike Viqueira, Sheilah MacVicar, Teresa Bo and Wajahat Ali.   The coverage will also include live remotes from Al Jazeera America’s correspondents: Robert Ray from Atlanta, Heidi Zhou Castro from Texas, Melissa Chan from Berkeley, CA, Randall Pinkston from New Orleans, Libby Casey from Louisville, Ash-har Quraishi from Iowa, Allen Schauffler from Seattle and Bisi Onile-Ere from Detroit.  International correspondents include: Nick Schifrin in Istanbul, Dana Lewis in London, Rory Challands in Moscow, Jennifer Glasse in Kabul, Adrian Brown in Bejing, Adam Raney in Mexico City, Imran Khan in Baghdad, Imtiaz Tyab in Jerusalem and reports from Asia.

Special election day programming will include encores of Midterms, the three-episode documentary series from AJ Schnack “Caucus” about the 2014 American midterm elections and some of the most hotly contested political races in the country.  Midterms part one will air at 1pm ET followed by part two at 2pm ET and part three at 3pm ET.

Chronicling four bellwether races in three swing states – Iowa, Colorado and North Carolina —Midterms is a portrait of the campaigns, issues and individuals in the year’s most heated political races. AJ Schnack, who directed the 2013 film “Caucus” about the 2011-12 Republican race in the Iowa Caucus, gained unprecedented access to the candidates and their staffs, going inside races that have the potential for political upsets that could predict the national mood come November 2014.  An up-close, unbiased examination of U.S. politics, Midterms shows the personal and human side of running for office and the issues that may define the 2014 national elections, including health care, immigration and government spending in Washington.
