Miami –January 9, 2014- Deportes Telemundo, the home of reigning Liga MX champ Club León, presents the second match of the 2014 league “Clausura” Tournament at Nou Camp Stadium, where León will host Atlas this Saturday, January 11 at 9 PM EST/8 CST/6 PST, live on Telemundo. Legendary sportscaster Andrés Cantor will recount the action with commentary by soccer expert Sammy Sadovnik.
León will take the home field for the first time since being crowned Torneo Apertura 2013 champions and is eager to prove their worth with their first victory of the year. Atlas is no pushover, however, and is just as determined to lift its standings after tying Xolos of Tijuana in a scoreless match in Guadalajara. León also tied its first “Clausura” Tournament game, 1-1 against Atlante. León is confident in its heavy artillery, led by Mauro Boselli, whose 15 goals were fundamental in cementing the championship title.
The statistics favor León: Of 47 games between the two teams, León won 18 and Atlas 14, with 15 matches ending in ties. Since León returned to first division in 2012, it has won all three of their games against Atlas. Atlas, for its part, will try to capitalize on its players’ peak physical condition against a rival rumored to be tired out after the long road to the Apertura. León enjoyed only a brief respite after winning the title, diving right back into the Closing Tournament, to be followed soon after by Copa Libertadores.
