MIAMI – March 30, 2015 – Telemundo announced that Dra. Ana Maria Polo, internationally renowned host of the top-rated show “Caso Cerrado,” renewed her contract with the Spanish-language network. The popular TV celebrity who has captivated audiences across the United States and Latin America, became known to television audiences in 2001 on Telemundo’s program “Sala de Parejas” (Couples’ Room), which in 2005 became “Caso Cerrado con la Dra. Ana Maria Polo” (Case Closed with Dr. Ana Maria Polo). In addition to hosting the show, Polo also composed and sings the show’s theme song. Currently, she ranks as one of the most renowned personalities in U.S. Hispanic television with three daily editions of her show on the air: “Lo Mejor de Caso Cerrado” at 3pm/2c, “Caso Cerrado” at 5pm/4c, and “Caso Cerrado Edición Estelar” at 7pm/6c, also seen in over 21 countries throughout Latin America.

“I am very excited to strengthen the relationship with Telemundo, my home for the past 14 years that believed in me since the beginning of my career and offered me a platform to be close to the audience that I love and respect,” said Dra. Polo. “Caso Cerrado will continue to entertain and educate our community,” concluded the TV personality.

“We are very happy to have signed Dra. Polo, a TV personality who has become an icon not only in the U.S. Hispanic television but also in Latin America,” stated Luis Silberwasser, President of Telemundo Network. “Her credibility, community service and commitment to the audience, make us proud to have her as part of the Telemundo family,” he concluded.

With more than 20 years of experience practicing law, Dr. Ana Maria Polo has maintained an undivided connection with the U.S. Hispanic community. In addition to composing and singing the theme song of her program, the award winning TV personality is the author of “Querida Dra. Polo: Las cartas secretas de Caso Cerrado” (Dear Dr. Polo: The Secret Letters of “Caso Cerrado”), based on letters sent by viewers, which narrate the secret underworld life of thousands of individuals who can no longer distinguish between good and evil. In 2011, Polo was recognized with the Mickey Leland Humanitarian Achievement Award given by the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications that honors individuals and organizations affiliated with the communications industry which demonstrate a humanitarian commitment. The same year, she was named the first Hispanic ambassador for Stand Up To Cancer, joining an esteemed list of national and international celebrity supporters of the initiative, which raises awareness and funds for collaborative cancer research. As a breast cancer survivor, Polo has become a role model for many women, and works with different organizations that fight to find a cure for the disease. Her commitment to the Hispanic community has also prompted her involvement with various causes such as human rights and discrimination. In November 2014, she participated in the Human Rights Organization video campaign for Marriage Equality, the first ever to be released in both Spanish and English. This year, Dra. Polo became one of the celebrity champions for Telemundo’s health platform, Prevenir Es Vivir, a comprehensive, year-round health platform that is geared towards informing, educating and empowering U.S. Hispanics about how to prevent common health issues.
