“FACE THE NATION” POSTED ITS SECOND CONSECUTIVE MAY SWEEP WIN IN VIEWERS, ITS FIRST MAY SWEEP NON-TIE WIN IN ADULTS 25-54 SINCE 1989 AND ITS FIRST NON-TIE MAY SWEEP WIN IN HOUSEHOLDS SINCE THE ADVENT OF PEOPLE METERS
FACE THE NATION WITH BOB SCHIEFFER is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show for the 2012-2013 season. FACE THE NATION is first in viewers (3.22m), adults 25-54 (0.8/03, tied with NBC) – the demographic most important to those who advertise in News – and households (2.3/06). FACE THE NATION is first in viewers and households for the season for the first time since the advent of people meters (1987) and first in adults 25-54 (tied) for the second consecutive season. FACE THE NATION posted its best season delivery in viewers since 1992-1993 and in households since 2001-2002.
For the 2012-2013 season, most current, FACE THE NATION is up +8% in viewers (from 2.99m), +10% in households (from 2.1/05) and even in adults 25-54 compared to last year.
In the May 2013 Sweep, FACE THE NATION is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show in adults 25-54 (0.7/04), viewers (2.99m) and households (2.1/06). FACE THE NATION posted its second consecutive May Sweep win in viewers, its first May Sweep non-tie win in adults 25-54 since 1989 and its first non-tie May Sweep win in households since the advent of people meters. FACE THE NATION posted its best May Sweep delivery in adults 25-54 since 2011, viewers since 1992 and households since 2004.
On Sunday, May 19, FACE THE NATION finished first in adults 25-54 (0.8/04), viewers (2.93m) and households (2.1/06), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. Editor’s Note: FACE THE NATION’s second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 66% of the CBS affiliates.
Compared to the same day last year, FACE THE NATION is up +33% in adults 25-54 (from 0.6/03) and +11% in both viewers (from 2.64m) and households (from 1.9/06).
On the broadcast, Bob Schieffer interviewed White House Senior Advisor Dan Pfeiffer, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) and Associated Press President and CEO Gary Pruitt. Schieffer also hosted a panel with New York Times chief Washington correspondent David Sanger, Politico senior political writer Lois Romano, Washington Post chief correspondent Dan Balz and CBS News Political Director John Dickerson.
