Solidifies Position as TV’s Leading Destination

for Viewers Seeking Uplifting Programming


ATLANTA, GA – April 11, 2012 – GMC TV, America’s favorite channel for uplifting music and family entertainment, announced today that Easter week (April 2-8) content propelled the network to its highest-rated week ever among W18-49. The network’s record-setting showing was led by a “Greatest Stories Ever Told Week” programming stunt featuring bible movies including Abraham, The Ten Commandments, Joseph, The Greatest Story Ever Told and the two-part GMC World Premiere Event Jesus, as well as A Walton Easter.

“These Nielsen numbers confirm that GMC is the destination for the most popular and engaging Easter programming on television,” said Leslie Chesloff, executive vice president, programming. “GMC is growing at one of the fastest rates in cable and propelling this growth is our special holiday programming. We’ve established GMC as America’s favorite channel for Christmas programming we are excited to build on that success with another important week for our viewers.  We have established a great tent pole programming tradition and plan to make it even stronger next year and beyond.”

For the week of April 2-8, GMC posted its highest rated week ever in W18-49 (source 1). Versus Easter Week 2011, GMC’s ratings were up 50% among W18-49 and 71% among W25-54. For the week, GMC delivered an average primetime audience of 230,000 (P2+) (source 2) and placed 44th in total day among W18-49  and 40th among W25-54 (source 3).

GMC’s record-setting week comes on the heels of the network’s strong first quarter, the highest-rated ever among W18-49 and 25-54, as well as A18-49 and 25-54. The first quarter was the 15th consecutive quarter of year-to-year growth for the network (source 4) and saw GMC

rank second among all ad supported cable networks in growth among W18-49 and 25-54 (source 5).
