2013 Western Conference Finalists Real Salt Lake and LA Galaxy Meet for Second Time in 2014 MLS Season

Stamford, Conn. – March 19, 2014 – NBCSN’s Major League Soccer coverage this weekend features 2013 MLS Cup runners-up Real Salt Lake (1-0-1, 4 pts.) hosting LA Galaxy (0-1-0, 0 pts.), the winningest club in league history, Saturday at 4 p.m. ET, immediately following NBCSN’s Premier League coverage.

The two teams met in the season opener, a 1-0 Real Salt Lake road victory under new head coach Jeff Cassar. The Galaxy are led by U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Landon Donovan, who looks to become MLS’ all-time leading goal scorer (his 134 career goals is tied for the record with Jeff Cunningham).

COMMENTATORS: NBC Sports Group’s lead play-by-play announcer John Strong calls the match joined by former Jamaican National Team player Robbie Earle and host Russ Thaler at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah.

Strong on Real Salt Lake v. LA Galaxy: “After a stellar first two weeks, our third game is about as good as it gets. Real Salt Lake and the LA Galaxy have been duking it out atop the Western Conference since MLS Cup 2009, and their game in the season opener was fierce and dramatic. For me, it’s a battle of the best ‘team’ in MLS, Real Salt Lake, versus the most frightening pair, Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane for LA, in front of the always-great atmosphere at Rio Tinto Stadium. This one will be fun.”
