Nearly Triples UniMás Total Viewer Delivery during Monday through Sunday Primetime; Outperforms CW Network for Second Consecutive Month Among Key Demos –To Become #6 Broadcast Network Overall





“El Señor De Los Cielo’s” Surges to Become One of the Most Watched Novelas in Network History




MIAMI – April 30, 2013 – With its blockbuster lineup of breakout hits led by “El Señor de los Cielos,” and “La Patrona,” coupled with another winning performance by the network’s music event of the year, the 2013 “Billboard Latin Music Awards Presented by State Farm®,” Telemundo was the fastest growing broadcast network in April, regardless of language during Monday through Sunday primetime, up +22% among total viewers (1,434,000 vs. 1,176,000) and up +23% year-over-year among adults 18-49 (757,000 vs. 614,000), according to Nielsen. April also turned in another record breaking performance as the most watched month ever in the network’s history among total viewers in Monday through Sunday primetime and the third best month among adults 18-49.



Fueled by its two blockbuster hits, Telemundo’s Monday through Friday prime delivery during the week of April 15 had its best week ever with regular programming among total viewers, averaging 1,817,000 and scored a best ever performance among adults 18-49 (993,000) during the week of April 22.



Also in April, Telemundo was the fastest-growing Spanish language broadcast network for the third consecutive month widening its lead over UniMás in Monday through Sunday primetime, averaging nearly three times as many total viewers this month (1,434,000 vs. 504,000, a +185% advantage) and +171% more adults 18-49 (757,000 vs. 279,000). In addition, during Monday through Friday 8-10pm, Telemundo out delivered the CW network for the second straight month in total viewers (1,722,000 vs. 1,155,000), adults 18-49 (892,000 vs. 528,000) and adults 18-34 (423,000 vs. 255,000), ranking as the #6 broadcast network overall.



In the digital space, had its best month this year across all metrics with video streams in April, up +8% year-over-year with 12,859,450 video streams and 77,311,360 page views, up +7% vs. April 2012. Mobile topped their highest numbers of the year with 8.9MM page views and 757,000 unique visitors.






Since its smash debut on April 15, 2013, “El Señor de los Cielos” (Lord of the Skies) is quickly tracking to become one of the most watched novelas in network history, regularly beating English language broadcast programs among adults 18-49 and topping one or more of the networks at 10pm, on 6 of 9 nights.



In its first two weeks, “El Señor de los Cielos” ranked as the #1 broadcast program regardless of language at 10pm among adults 18-34 on 2 nights and delivered more 18-34 viewers than at least one of the English language broadcast networks on 6 more nights. Premiere-to-date, the action-filled story, inspired by true events, is averaging over 2.3 million total viewers and nearly 1.5 million adults 18-49, positioning it as is the #2 novela in Telemundo’s history and garners a 42% share of audience in adults 18-49 among major Spanish language broadcast networks in its time period. The series starring Rafael Amaya airs Monday through Friday at 10pm tells the story of Aurelio Casillas (Rafael Amaya), one of the most prominent Mexican drug lords from the 1990s, whose ambition was to become one of the richest and most powerful men in Mexico. From the moment his photo was published, his face became his biggest stumbling block. The law, as well as his enemies, began to pursue him and he turned to high-risk plastic surgery to conceal his identity.



Its 9pm lead in, “La Patrona” (The Boss) premiere-to-date is averaging over 1.9 million total viewers and more than one million adults 18-49, ranking as the #3 novela in Telemundo history.





During the week of April 15, Telemundo’s breaking news coverage of the tragic events in Boston cumulatively reached millions of viewers with “Noticias Telemundo’s” special news coverage nearing 6 million total viewers and its 6:30pm telecast of “Noticiero Telemundo” reaching nearly 2.7 million total viewers, a +35% increase vs. the same week last year. At 5pm, “Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste,” Telemundo’s daily newsmagazine, cumulatively reached over 4 million viewers, a +15% increase vs. the same week 2012.





Telemundo aired the #1 FLM game in primetime this month with the April 13 “Futbol Estelar Leon” match-up between Leon vs. America averaging 975,000 total viewers and 533,000 adults 18-49.





On April 25, Telemundo’s live broadcast of Latin’s music most prestigious awards, Telemundo’s 2013 Billboard Latin Music Awards Presented by State Farm®” (8PM ET) averaged 1,309,000 adults 18 to 49, up 2% from last year’s show according to Nielsen. Hosted by renowned television personalities Ana Barbara, Juan Soler and Daniel Sarcos and featuring top musical acts such as Daddy Yankee, Marc Anthony, Don Omar, Il Volo, Paulina Rubio and Wisin y Yandel, among many others, the live show delivered a cumulative audience of 3,214,000 adults 18 to 49, +3% growth versus last year.



On the digital front, the awards show ranked as the #1 broadcast network on the Top Daily TrendrrTV Broadcast Chart, out delivering by more than three times “Scandal” in ABC (219,245) and “American Idol” in FOX (205,701), with 794,746 social activities posted. In addition, Telemundo also ranked as the #2 broadcast network with the award’s red carpet show garnering 409,074 social postings. In total, last night’s red carpet and awards show broadcast generated over 1.2 million social interactions, +70% growth versus last year’s show (794,000).


Buzz about the show began to ramp up early in the day on Twitter, as #PremiosBillboard2013 was trending worldwide by 3pm ET and continued to trend generating eight other Worldwide Trending Topics throughout the night.
