Writer Joe Ansolabehere Honored for Episode

“I Never Barked for My Father”

LOS ANGELES – The popular animated series “Pound Puppies” on The Hub TV Network, a destination for kids and their families, has been honored with the HUMANITAS Prize for excellence in writing for children’s television animation. “Pound Puppies” is produced for The Hub TV Network by Hasbro Studios.

Writer Joe Ansolabehere was honored in the category of Children’s Animation for the “Pound Puppies” episode “I Never Barked for My Father.” Ansolabehere is among thirty-four writers nominated in ten categories for the 38th Annual HUMANITAS Awards, and was pre-announced as the winner in the Children’s Animation category. Winners among finalists named in other categories will be announced at the annual awards luncheon Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Montage Beverly Hills hotel.

The HUMANITAS Prize was created in 1974 to honor film and television writers whose work explores the human condition in a nuanced, meaningful way. HUMANITAS exists to encourage, stimulate and sustain the nation’s screenwriters in their humanizing task, and to give them the recognition they deserve. The HUMANITAS Prize is funded by an endowment established through the generosity of individuals, networks, studios and foundations.

The pup-ular half-hour animated series “Pound Puppies” (Saturdays at 9 a.m. ET) follows a rag-tag team of shelter dogs dedicated to finding loving homes for lonely puppies, with the motto “there’s a pup for every person, and a person for every pup!”
