Here are FOX’s renew/cancel standings for week 19 of the 2018-19 season. Despite a possible schedule change next season too, the Bear still feels good about a rookie comedy’s future.

15 weeks later, and “The Cool Kids” is still holding strong in FOX’s renew/cancel standings this season.
According to the index, the rookie comedy is one of the network’s strongest contenders for renewal, behind only “Empire” and its Friday night lead-in, “Last Man Standing.” But with a 0.98 live + same day average rating among adults 18-49, “The Cool Kids” has been performing considerably well this season, especially considering its Friday night time slot.
Now, there’s a chance, with “WWE Smackdown” moving to FOX next season, that “The Cool Kids” and “Last Man Standing” could both be subject to schedule changes should they return this fall, which may hurt their chances for renewal. But even if that ends up being the case, the Bear would be surprised if FOX did away with either, especially before even giving them a chance to prove themselves on a different night or in a different hour.
With the help of “Last Man Standing,” “The Cool Kids” has been one of the steadiest freshman performers of the season, and the Bear thinks it’s done enough to guarantee itself at least one more season.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the amount above (or below) a replacement-level rating — i.e., the expected adults 18-49 rating of an emergency fill-in show should a series be canceled. For the 2018-19 season, replacement level is a 0.6 same-day rating in adults 18-49 for the Big 4 networks and a 0.1 for The CW. (Read more here.) The index number is taken by subtracting 0.6 (or 0.1) from a show’s average same-day rating.
Friday scripted shows (denoted with an “F” above) on the Big 4 have average ratings about 30 percent lower than those of other nights, therefore their ratings are multiplied by 1.43 (1/0.7, or 70 percent) before subtracting the replacement-level number.
Shows that have ended their seasons have their R/C Index number frozen at the point of their final episode.
(O) – Owned: All other things equal, shows owned by studios affiliated with their networks have a better shot at renewal than those from outside producers.
