The cancellation bear has noted that predicting which of the three low rated CBS veteran dramas will follow CSI into his jaws is almost a coin flip, but he’s only got three more prediction posts before his final oddsmakers predictions, so it’s time to get a move on.

Given that Hawaii Five-O and Blue Bloods are the same age, the bear’s going to guess they are similar in cost and contract situations. We don’t know the details of their syndication deals (anyone claims to either works for CBS Studios sales or is lying), so that doesn’t help with predictions. The only things we do know publicly are that Blue Bloods ratings are slightly higher than Hawaii Five-0, in a 10pm timeslot that has slightly less overall TV watching than the 9pm timeslot. Given that, if one of those two gets canceled this season, it probably won’t be Blue Bloods.

Criminal Minds’ renewal could hinge on new contracts with the stars, but there is at least some chance the highly rated show could continue without them. The bear assumes the contracts will get done or that the show will continue with new actors,. Still, that’s not certain, hence he’s moving his prediction for it to just “likely to be renewed”.

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. You can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. If you want to interact with the bear, Twitter, not these post’s comments, is the place to do that. It’s more fun for the bear and reaches far more people. While this post will likely be viewed many tens of thousands of times, the commenting audience is a tiny fraction of that (a few hundred comments is typical). Tens of thousands of fans follow the bear on Twitter.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show’s new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It’s calculated by dividing a show’s new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show’s own network. The network’s average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.
