Stalker is certain to be canceled. Its only chance for survival was if it beat out Madam Secretary for the “third rookie” Fall drama renewal for CBS. When Madam Secretary was renewed, that chance vanished. Earlier, the bear covered the fact that Stalker received only a partial “back order” of 7 episodes (instead of 9) which would mark it for cancellation, and, currently, CBS has only scheduled 17 of the 20 episodes ordered, another death knell for the show.

CBS announced that it is getting another batch of Thursday Night Football episodes next season. The more interesting question is what does this mean for CBS’ scheduling next season: Does CBS keep Scorpion where it is for a month of Big Bang Theory bump before starting a new drama Thursdays@10, or does it use TBBT to promote a new drama Mondays@9 before boosting a Thursday lineup finishing with Scorpion@10?

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. You can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. If you want to interact with the bear, Twitter, not these post’s comments, is the place to do that. It’s more fun for the bear and reaches far more people. While this post will likely be viewed many tens of thousands of times, the commenting audience is a tiny fraction of that (a few hundred comments is typical). Tens of thousands of fans follow the bear on Twitter.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show’s new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It’s calculated by dividing a show’s new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show’s own network. The network’s average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.
