This is a special bear vacation week edition of the post incorporating ratings and news only through 2/12.
There’s no room in next season’s CW schedule for Hart Of Dixie, regardless of its ratings (which remain the second worst on the CW during 2015), there’s no chance it appears again during the regular season.
But with the official confirmation that Beauty And The Beast will be a summer show (and off the cancellation bear’s radar), might Hart Of Dixie also head to friendly Planet Summer? Given that the CW’s done it once, it’s possible again. What’s not possible is the bear being able to give a reasonable prediction for it.
The mystery over how/why Beauty And The Beast was renewed for s3 is now at least partially “solved”. Summer broadcast shows fill a giant void of available time and aren’t in competition with new or existing shows for timeslots, and because of that, their fates aren’t predictable using the bear’s methods which rely on scarcity to drive decisions.
The cancellation bear’s next potential meal on the CW, iZombie, premieres on March 17, the bear’s got little more to write about in his CW predictions until then.
Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. You can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. If you want to interact with the bear, Twitter, not these post’s comments, is the place to do that. It’s more fun for the bear and reaches far more people. While this post will likely be viewed many tens of thousands of times, the commenting audience is a tiny fraction of that (a few hundred comments is typical). Tens of thousands of fans follow the bear on Twitter.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show’s new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It’s calculated by dividing a show’s new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show’s own network. The network’s average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.
