There has been next to no new scripted programming on network TV in the past two weeks as everyone stashed away their comedies and dramas during the Winter Olympics.

As such, the Bear’s predictions won’t resume until next week. Now, though, the Bear is pausing to take a look at where the networks stand right now and take a general overview of what’s likely to happen between now and May.

Last year at this time, ABC, CBS, The CW, FOX and NBC had collectively renewed 22 shows (including those in the middle of multi-season pickups) and had canceled four, excluding those with pre-announced final seasons.

As of this post, the 2017-18 count is four cancellations of in-season shows but only 12 renewals. The CW in particular has lagged this season; it hasn’t announced any renewals yet, where at this time last year it had picked up seven shows.

Perhaps networks were waiting until the Olympics ended to announce some pickups. If that’s the case, expect a lot of announcements in the next few weeks, including the annual CBS mass pickup that typically comes in late March.

As we enter the final third of the season, here is a rundown of the Bear’s current predictions.
