No surprise here, but ABC has canceled “The Whispers” after its summer season.

The show premiered to decent ratings, drawing a 1.5 in adults 18-49 (same-day) in June. The audience drifted away after that, however, with all but two of the remaining episodes falling under 1.0 in the demo.

ABC also let contract options on the cast lapse partway through the show’s run, a sign that it maybe wasn’t long for the world.

With “Rookie Blue” also canceled, ABC’s summer roster of scripted shows is suddenly a little thin. “Mistresses” will be back in 2016, but that’s all for now.
