More thinking on whether FOX might pull TSCC earlier than planned.
UPDATE: Dollhouse averaged 4.72 million and a 2.0/6 (rating share) among 18-49 year olds in its serues premiere. Things weren’t as pretty for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: 3.71 million and a 1.4/5 with the 18-49 crowd. I will update with all the rest of the night’s info shortly.

Update #3: Dollhouse performed well with MEN according to FOX:
At 9p, the series premiere of DOLLHOUSE increased to a 2.0/6 among Adults 18-49, ranking No. 2 in its time period among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 and No. 1 among Male demos. DOLLHOUSE built upon its 8p lead-in by +54% among Adults 18-49 (2.0/6 vs. 1.3/5), by +55% among Adults 18-34 (1.7/6 vs. 1.1/4) and by +27% among Total Viewers (4.7 vs. 3.7 Mil.) while delivering FOX’s highest rated Friday series premiere in over four years (since 1/14/05, Jonny Zero) among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
The series debut of DOLLHOUSE also out-delivered FOX’s prior season average in the Friday 9p hour by +25% among Adults 18-49 (2.0/6 vs. 1.6/5) and by +21% among Adults 18-34 (1.7/6 vs. 1.4/5). Finally, DOLLHOUSE was the highest rated Friday FOX entertainment telecast of the broadcast season among Adults 18-49.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles also fared better w/men:
The Friday time period premiere of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES opened the night with a 1.3/5 at 8p, ranking No. 3 in its hour among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 and No. 1 among Men 18-49/18-34.
CBS won the night in total viewers, but a very strong performance from 20/20 led ABC to a demographic victory among 18-49 year olds.
I think Dollhouse did about how most people expected it to, the best news to offer is that more tuned in for it than TSCC and on average they stuck around (there was no drop off in the second half hour). The news for TSCC isn’t as good. 😦
Happy Valentine’s Day! We haven’t seen any numbers yet, and for Friday and Saturday data, like most everyone else, we’re at the mercy of the Internet. But I’ll be scouring it so you don’t have to and hopefully by 9am PT or so we’ll see some information. I know there are at least five of you who are interested in seeing how Dollhouse and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles did. I will update this post with the info and all the rest of the Friday night data as well (there are more than a few fans of Ghost Whisperer, Flashpoint and Numb3rs around).
While we’re waiting — a couple of things. While like most of the reviewers, I didn’t think Dollhouse’s premiere was a fantastic episode. But I also didn’t think it was very hard to follow. Not sure it’s for the masses, but it hardly seemed over anyone’s head. It’s not like accidentally not watching the last 15 minutes of last week’s Damages and then watching the next episode. That can produce a lot of, “Wait! What!?!?!?!” I didn’t have that experience with Dollhouse at all.
The eye candy actually did work for me, and I’m not talking about Eliza Dushku. Notably, I thought they had both Dushku and Summer Glau way more glammed up for the promotional hosting spots than the episodes — but they certainly both looked gorgeous. I’m talking about Dollhouse just being eye candy in general. It looked absolutely great in high definition on the big screen.
It has been interesting reading some of the takes on the internets about last night’s TSCC.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
