Just saw the NBC schedule grid for the week of April 5-11, including:

04/08/2009 (09:00PM – 10:00PM) (Wednesday) : SEASON TWO FINALE EPISODE OF ‘LIFE’ – In the season two finale episode Crews (Damian Lewis) must locate his partner Reese (Sarah Shahi) who has gone missing while on loan to the F.B.I. Her disappearance is directly tied to Crews and he will do whatever it takes to get her back. In the events that transpire, shocking details about the conspiracy against Crews will be revealed. Gabrielle Union, Donal Logue, Brent Sexton and Adam Arkin also star.

The show has grown over me over time, and given its ratings, I don’t see any chance for it being back on NBC next year.  I know it’s Angela Bromstad’s baby, but Wednesday night in the preliminary overnight numbers it averaged only 4.2 million viewers and a 1.5 rating with adults 18-49.   That means it’s nowhere near even being on the bubble.  Coupled with five hours of the prime-time schedule being eaten up by Leno next year and this looks like the series finale rather than merely the season finale.

What about cable?  Well, USA would be a likely candidate since NBC owns that as well, but I don’t see USA chomping at the chance to pick up a show that is performing worse on the NBC broadcast net than several USA shows perform.

As a fan, of course I hope it happens anyway, but I don’t see that happening. 😦
