Live football continued to dominate the broadcast charts throughout the first week of the new TV season, while NBC claimed the no. 1 spot among the networks.
The network not only had the top sports broadcast of the week, with its “Sunday Night Football” game posting a 6.1 in the adults 18-49 demo, but also had the highest-rated scripted show of the week, thanks to the “This is Us” season 3 premiere scoring a 3.0. CBS’ “Big Bang Theory” premiere was the second highest-rated original show of the week, landing behind “This is Us” with a 2.5.
In the network standings, NBC (2.0) grabbed first place, with FOX (1.6) coming in second, CBS (1.3) taking third, and ABC (1.2) placing lowest among the big 4 in the demo. In the total viewers measure, however, CBS was the most-watched network with 8.36 million, while NBC (7.87 million) came second.
