A couple NFL games carried “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to a 9-month high in the late-night ratings.

The NBC series returned from a short break to easily dominate the ratings for the week of Sept. 2, averaging a 0.56 rating in adults 18-49 – its highest weekly average in the demo in over 9 months. Boosted by some big NFL broadcasts on Thursday night and Sunday night, “Fallon” also hit a 19-week high in total viewers (2.15 million).

“Late Night with Seth Meyers” benefitted from the added NFL presence as well, hitting a 27-week high in the 18-49 demo (0.28). Elsewhere, CBS’ “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” (0.31) and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” (0.30) returned from hiatus with small upticks week-to-week. “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” however, matched its 0.16 from the week before.

In cable, Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” posted a 0.19, while “Lights Out with David Spade” raked in a 0.10. TBS’ “Conan” took the week off, and predictably dropped back down to a 0.11.

Here are the late-night numbers for Sept. 2-6, 2019:

Notes: Sept. 2’s results are excluded due to the Labor Day holiday. NBC’s Sept. 5 telecasts were delayed by an NFL overrun, while Sept. 6’s “Late Show,” “Late Night,” and “Late Late Show” were all encores. The CBS rebroadcasts from that night are excluded from these averages. “Tonight” also aired a special Sunday broadcast, delayed by an NFL overrun.
